Stance @ SxSW

SXSW brings alot of out of towners, but what do the locals like to do? Here's our top 5 Uncommon Things to do OUTSIDE of SXSW.

1. Heartbreaker Banquet
There is not better thing to do outside of SXSW than Heartbreaker Banquet. Hosted at Willie Nelson’s ranch in Luck, Texas, there is no better way to break out of the SXSW mode. With an array of Punks and Poets, live art, amazing music, and nothing but good vibes, heartbreak is the last thing on everyone's mind at this musical oasis.

2. The Yellow Rose
Austin has a lot to offer at night other than 6th Street. One of the more unusual offerings is The Yellow Rose. Known as the “#1 spot for adult entertainment” in Texas, this flower is ready to bloom into your world. Just stay away from the buffet.

3. Franklin’s BBQ
It’s no surprise that BBQ would be one of the top destinations when visiting Texas, but this place still deserves its own callout. Ask any Austin-ite and they’ll tell you there’s BBQ, and then there is Franklin BBQ. People line up hours in advance of Franklin’s opening to secure a spot at this “table”, but even then they aren’t guaranteed. Franklin’s opens at 11 am, and only stays open as long as needed to sell out. People get there as early as 6 am, so whip out your lawn chairs and your card games and prepare to stake it out.

4. Museum of Weird
Austin’s unofficial slogan is “Keep Austin Weird”, and the only way to make it more un-official is with a museum.  Shrunken heads, freaks of nature, the gang’s all here. This place is open 7 days a week, so there’s no excuse not to get your dose of weird while in Austin.

5. Chicken shit bingo at The Little Longhorn Saloon
Nothing screams Texas more than chicken shit bingo. At The Little Longhorn Saloon, the beer is cold, the dancing is crowded, and the bingo smells like a chicken coop. Sunday is the day to see all the shit “go down”.

How do you like to spend your time in Austin while at SxSW? Let us know with a comment below.
